Catherine M. McHugh, 99, of Little Meadows, Pa.., died on October 25, 2005, at the Vestal Nursing Center, Vestal, N.Y., after a long illness. 

 Mrs. McHugh was born April 21, 1906, in Flynn (Irish Hill), Pa.  She  graduated from Rush, Pa., High School, Bloomsburg State Teachers College, and Cortland State University. 

She was a school teacher for more than 40 years, and began her career teaching in one-room schoolhouses in Middletown and Little Meadows, Pa. She also taught in the Owego-Apalachin School District from which she retired in 1972. 

 She was a member of St.  Thomas the Apostle Church in Little Meadows where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and participated  in the Religious Education Program, and many other activities and events. She was involved with the Little Meadows Grange and Fire Department Auxiliary, and the New York State Teachers Association.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack McHugh in 1975; brothers Joseph, John, and Francis Murphy; sisters Mary Purtell and Marguerite Buckley; seven nephews; and three nieces. She is survived by many nieces and nephews including Madeline (Eugene) Barno and Ruth (Edwin) Colwell; and grandniece Linda (Ron) Kemmerer. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Kane.

 A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Rev. Casimir Stanis officiating.  Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City.
