 Tax-Aide Program Seeks Volunteers

The Binghamton Chapter of the Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is making preparations for the 2003 Income Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Program. The TCE Program is sponsored by the Broome County Office for the Aging, Internal Revenue Service, and the AARP. TCE and Vita offers free income tax preparation services for low and moderate income taxpayers.

Volunteer tax counselors are needed for this TCE Program. Counselors will be taught income tax preparation by IRS-trained AARP Tax-Aide volunteer instructors. This five-day training program will begin early January 2003. Also, those interested in preparing taxes on the computer for electronic filing are welcome to apply as counselors.

For more information or to volunteer for the TCE Program as a volunteer tax counselor, please contact Joan Tassey at 625-2658. r
