Log Cabin Maker Draws Awareness to Diabetes

Peg Hubbard of Apalachin created this log cabin as a means to draw awareness to Diabetes. The cabin is constructed using diabetic needles, insulin bottles, sea shells from Florida, and pine cones from South Carolina. Peg spent about 500 hours creating the scene and used more than 1,000 syringes.
Diagnosed as a diabetic 30 years ago, Peg wanted to set an example for kids who could accumulate a lifetime's worth of needles and trash them rather than finding a use for them.
