 Main Street Bridge Reopens

A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held to celebrate the reopening of the newly renovated Apalachin Main Street Bridge at Noon on Friday, November 22. After the ribbon cutting at the west end of the bridge, local officials, members of the VFW, and area residents paraded across the bridge followed by Apalachin Fire Department vehicles, and one of the new T-Tran buses.

The parade stopped at the east end of the bridge where Carol Sweeney, Town of Owego Supervisor, and Tom Libous, New York State Senator, unveiled an historical marker.

Everyone was surprised when the unveiling revealed a homemade marker hanging over the real one, proclaiming the bridge to be the "Joseph Barbara Memorial Bridge."

No one admitted responsibility for the prank, but everyone got a good laugh out of it. (See story)
