 Castellucci's Annual Blood Drive
on December 11

The 6th Annual Donald Castellucci Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Wednesday, December 11, from 1:30 to 6:30 pm at the Elks Lodge in Owego.

Donald Castellucci, Jr., a Town of Owego Councilman, started sponsoring blood drives during his father's final days of battling cancer. For the last six years during the month of December, Castellucci has dedicated the blood drive to the memory of father, Donald Castellucci, Sr., who died on December 25. "I will always remember the constant transfusions he received during his illness. This is my family's way of saying thank you to those who donated to him," said Castellucci.

"Last year, we attempted to get 50 donors. Forty-eight people attempted to donate," Castellucci explained. "This year, we hope to surpass 50."

Like last year, a rigatoni and meatball dinner will be served to all donors. Also, food donations will be collected for the Tioga County Rural Ministry as well as cash donations to the Ministry in Donald Castellucci, Sr.'s Last year, $70 and several boxes of food were collected.

"My family and I have appreciated all the support we've received with the drive," Castellucci said. "As always, each success depends on participation. After September 11, there were lines out the door to donate blood. Let's renew that spirit and give the gift of life this holiday season!"

To make an appointment to donated blood during Castellucci's Blood Drive, call 687-0965 or 1-800-292-6585, ext. 240.
