Remember Our Veterans
on November 11
November 11, Armistice Day was primarily a day set aside to honor veterans
of World War I. But, in 1954, Congress replaced the word "Armistice" with
"Veterans," and November 11 became a day to honor American veterans of
all wars, such as the World War II veteran pictured, for their patriotism,
love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common
good.
The Owego Kiwanis Memorial Flag Pole will be formerly dedicated
on Veteran's Day, Monday, November 11, at 12 Noon. The flag pole is located
in a grassy area at Exit 65, on Route 17C, across from McDonald's.
