Fly-off Celebrates Spanish Navy's LAMPS Program

Lockheed Martin in Owego on October 3 celebrated the fly-off of two of five Spanish Light Airborne Multi-Purpose System (LAMPS) MKIII helicopters to the U. S. Navy.

On hand for the event was Captain William Shannon, U. S. Navy NH-60R Program Manager, and Pete Schultz, President of Integrated Systems at Lockheed Martin.

By the end of October, Lockheed Martin had sent five of six new Light Airborne Multi-Purpose System (LAMPS) MK III SH-60B armed helicopters to the U. S. Navy for final delivery to the Spanish Armada fleet. The sixth and final aircraft was scheduled to be formally sold on October 31, marking a significant milestone in the $55.4 million program to provide Spain with six new state-of-the-art maritime helicopters for deployment aboard F-81 Santa Maria-class guided missile frigates, and the F-100 AEGIS frigates.

Lockheed Martin Systems Integration-Owego was the prime systems integrator for the Spanish Navy's LAMPS program
