I was going to the races at the Broome Tioga Sports Center, the nationals to be exact. There were thousands of people there and riders from all over the country. I was looking forward to a full day of relaxing and good racing but it didn't start out that way. On the way into the facility, I was trying to take a shortcut over a barbed wire fence when it caught my pants . I fell off of the fence and almost ripped my pants completely off. So there I am with lots of people around trying to figure out a way to fix the problem. And of course all my friends thought it was hilarious. I found some wire and made a temporary fix but I had to spend most of the day in one spot so I didn't look like a fool. Then there was the time at the Apalachin Field Days many years ago when my female friend and I became separated in the crowd. I looked all over the place when . . . AH HA! I see her! Her backside was facing me so I walked up and tapped her on the shoulder and said, "Looking for me, sweetie?" To my surprise when the person turned around, it was a guy! Talk about embarrassing! I disappeared in the crowd in a hurry! My most recent blunder came at work.. I was supposed to find a certain car on the lot and bring it in to add some mud guards on it. This was a brand new car and there were many identical models on the lot. Most of the new cars have a keyless entry with a panic alarm on it. I found that the best way to find a car in a crowd is to hit the panic button and then follow the flashing lights and the honking horn. I tried this a few times but none of the cars on the lot responded. All of a sudden the salesmen on the showroom floor came running outside hollering, "Where are the keys!" I didn't realize that the car was on the showroom floor! Can you imagine? The soft music playing in the showroom, people quietly making a deal, then all of a sudden the car next to them starts flashing the lights and blowing the horn! I thought it was pretty funny but unfortunately the people inside didn't share my humor. I'm sure everyone who is reading this has a story of their own
to tell, but I don't know how many will admit to it. I like to make people
smile so if you are having a bad day, I hope this helped your mood a little.
See you next month.
