Car Keys by Ron Craig
Anyone who has known me for any length of time knows that I have a good sense of humor. I have never been shy about poking fun at myself. I feel that if you can't make fun of yourself, then you have no right to do it to others. After all, we are human and we make mistakes that are sometimes embarrassing. I want to share some of mine. I have quite a few but here  are a few that stand out.

I was going to the races at the Broome Tioga Sports Center, the nationals to be exact. There were thousands of people there and riders from all over the country. I was looking forward to a full day of relaxing and good racing but it didn't start out that way. On the way into the facility, I was trying to take a shortcut over a barbed wire fence when it caught my pants . I fell off of the fence and almost ripped my pants completely off. So there I am with lots of people around trying to figure out a way to fix the problem. And of course all my friends thought it was hilarious. I found some wire and made a temporary fix but I had  to spend most of the day in one spot so I didn't look like a fool.

Then there was the time at the Apalachin  Field Days many years ago when my female friend and I became separated in the crowd. I looked all over the place when . . . AH HA! I see her! Her backside was facing me so I walked up and tapped her on the shoulder and said, "Looking for me, sweetie?" To my surprise when the person turned around, it was a guy! Talk about embarrassing! I disappeared in the crowd in a hurry!

My most recent blunder came at work.. I was supposed to find a certain car on the lot and bring it in to add some mud guards on it. This was a brand new car and there were many identical models on the lot. Most of the new cars have a keyless entry with a panic alarm on it. I found that the best way to find a car in a crowd is to hit the panic button and then follow the flashing lights and the honking horn. I tried this a few times but none of the cars on the lot responded. All of a sudden the salesmen on the showroom floor came running outside hollering, "Where are  the keys!"

I didn't realize that the car was on the showroom floor! Can you imagine? The soft music playing in the showroom, people quietly making a deal, then all of a sudden the car next to them starts flashing the lights and blowing the horn! I thought it was pretty funny but unfortunately the people inside didn't share my humor.

I'm sure everyone who is reading this has a story of their own to tell, but I don't know how many will admit to it. I like to make people smile so if you are having a bad day, I hope this helped your mood a little. See you next month.
