Book Club
October 7, Monday, 7 pm
The Book Club returns on Monday, October 7, with a discussion
of The Magic of Ordinary Days by Ann Howard Creel. This highly praised
book is the author's debut novel. Anyone who has read or is interested
in reading this book club selection is welcome to join the group at 7:00
pm.
Library Re-opens Oct 11
October 11, Friday, 2 pm
Wow! Have things changed at the Apalachin Library! The library
will re-open its doors on Friday, October 11, at 2:00 pm. Stop in and see
the new circulation area, receive your new library card, and have your
books checked out with the new automated circulation system.
Antiuqe Appraisals with Bob Connelly
October 25, Friday, 7 pm
Bob Connelly, who has always been a wonderful supporter of libraries,
will visit the Apalachin Library on October 25. Once again, he will donate
his time to the Friends of the Apalachin Library to discuss the recent
auction of the former Joseph Barbara, Sr. home and antiques in general.
Bring your items from home and learn more about their history and value.
A $2.00 donation is requested for each item you have examined.
Bottle Drive Ends Oct 25
The library will stop collecting deposit bottles and cans on
Friday, October 25. Leave your returnables on the library porch any day
before then. Thank you for your donations. The bottle drive helps pay for
children's books and program materials used throughout the year.
Remodeling Celebration & Open House
October 26, Saturday, 9am-1pm
The Friends of the Apalachin Library invite everyone to visit
the library on Saturday, October 26, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, to celebrate
the completion of the renovation project.
The library will be open to issue new cards and check out materials.
Staff will be available to explain the new electronic card catalogue. Patrons
can learn how to access materials on the Internet using their new cards
and how to request materials using their home computers. There will be
refreshments.
New Hours
The Apalachin Library has new hours. It will be closed on Wednesdays,
but open on Saturday mornings. Morning hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays
are also adjusted a half hour.
The new hours are:
• Monday and Friday: 2 - 6 pm
• Tuesday and Thursday: 9:30 am - 12:30 pm, and 6:30 - 8:30 pm
• Saturday: 9 am - 1 pm
• Closed Wednesday and Sunday
