Creating a Wild Bird Sanctuary
May 5, Saturday, 3 pm
Volunteer Naturalist Herb Stamer will present a one-hour video presentation outlining steps to attracting wild birds, including housing, feeding, cover plants and water. Free for members, $2 for non-members.

Jonathan Wood of the Raptor Project brings his 15 live birds of prey including owls, hawks, falcons, and a golden eagle to help the center celebrate its 25th anniversary with a fantastic brand new program. Imagine seeing a golden eagle spread her seven-foot wingspan and fly just inches above your head! Choose a program time and register soon. Space is limited. $4 members, $6 non-members. Children under 2, free.


Open House withtheOwls

In honor of their 25th anniversary, Waterman Center invites all members to their Open House where refreshments will be served and you can get a close up look at Jonathan Wood's amazing owls from the Raptor Project. Call for more details and to let them know you'll be attending. Free for members only.


Mother's Day Brunch with the Birds

Last chance to see Jonathan Wood of the Raptor Project and his amazing birds of prey. Brunch includes egg and sausage casserole bagels, assorted muffins, cookies, fresh fruit, orange juice, coffee, and tea. Register early, space is limited. $8 members, $10 non-members, half price for children, free for children under 2.


Wildflower Plant Sale

Waterman's annual plant sale will feature perennials, woodland flowers, ornamental grasses, annuals, herbs, and ferns.


Salamanders and Garlic Mustard
May 20, Sunday, 2 pm
John Maerz will present a program on his post-doctoral study of garlic mustard, a non-native invasive plant and its effect on the salamander population at Waterman Center and elsewhere. Slide show and talk will reveal some surprising findings. Free for members, $2 non-members.


Casey's Crossing Dedication
June 3, Sunday, 2 pm

The center will dedicate Casey Sierzant's memorial at Hiawatha Island Mainland on Marshland Road. Casey was one of Waterman's most dependable and capable volunteers. He died on September 8, 2000. A memorial stone with a plaque dedicating the boat launch site will be unveiled.
