Owego Town Clerk Seeks Re-election

Michael E. Zimmer, Owego Town Clerk, announces his intent to seek re-election on the Republican ticket for his seventh term. Zimmer has served as Town Clerk and Tax Receiver since November 1989. In October 1994, Zimmer received his Certified Municipal Clerks designation after successfully completing continuing education courses through Syracuse University. In 1999, Zimmer received his Registered Municipal Clerks designation from the New York State Town Clerks Association. He currently serves as 3rd Vice President of the State Association and previously held the positions of Treasurer, Secretary and Director. He has made presentations on Town Clerk and Tax Receiver duties at the Association of Towns Annual Training Sessions, New York State Town Clerks Association Annual Conference and Regional Meetings, Tug Hill Commission on Local Government and also served as co-presenter with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

Zimmer continues to remain progressive with respect to technological advances in order to optimize service to residents and to save money. He recently had the computer programs for Clerk and Receiver converted to windows format from DOS in order to keep the town current with changes that New York State mandates to all towns.

Zimmer also prides himself in having a very knowledgeable, efficient, and, above all, a courteous staff.
