Owego Councilman Brent Seeks Re-election
by Bruce Brent

I have enjoyed serving the people of the Town of Owego and look forward to representing them for another four years. I will therefore be running for re-election on the Republican ticket in 2001. During my tenure on the board, I have served on nearly every committee. At the present, I am working with the Parks, Personnel and Finance, Planning and Zoning Committees. Currently, revenue from camping at the Hickories Park has increased from $62,522 in 1997 to $113,397 in 2000. At the present time, the park is undergoing a construction project to provide public sewer service to all its comfort stations which will include a new station to serve the east area campers and the bandstand area. This is being done by members of BOCES as a part of their class work which gives the students valuable training and experience and makes better use of the extra income from campers.

As chair of the Labor Negotiating Committee, I have helped work out contracts with our negotiating unit that are as fair as possible to our employees as well as to the taxpayer of the town.

As your representative, I will strive to upgrade and improve infrastructure and services fairly and affordable so as to make the Town of Owego an even better place to live work, and raise a family.
