over the hills. Bring a flashlight. Fun for the whole family. Free for

Annual Steak Dinner on Hiawatha
Island
September 9, Saturday, 5:00 pm
The menu includes appetizers, Delmonico
steaks, salt potatoes, corn on the cob, coffee, desserts and more. This
will be an elegant candlelight affair. There is a 10 minute walk from the
boat landing to the site where dinner will be served. Entertainment will
be provided by the Java Joe Jammers. Pre-registration and pre-payment are
required. Last boat leaves for the island at 6:30 pm. Rain date is September
16. $25 members, $30 non-members.
Little People Hiawatha Lunch
September 7, Thursday, 10am-Noon
Children ages 5 and under are invited
to bring their parents or grandparents on a special hike around Hiawatha
Island. They will ride the pontoon boat to the island, go exploring, and
roast marshmallows around the fire. Bring a lunch. Space is limited, pre-registration
is required. $5 members, $8 non-members.
Outdoor Knots

Back by popular demand. Experienced den
leader, cub master, and Waterman Naturalist Scott MacDonald teaches rope
tying and knots. MacDonald teaches rope tying and knots. Demonstrations
and hands-on activities. For beginners ages 7-10. Space is limited. $2
members, $4 non-members.

Conservation Law Enforcement Seminar
September 19, Tuesday, 6:30-7:30pm
NYS DEC Environmental Conservation Police
Officer Mike Wheeler will speak about environmental regulations and answer
frequently asked questions on hunting, fishing, and trapping. He will also
talk about protected stream, wetlands, air quality, minerals, and mining.
There will be time after the presentation for questions and to discuss
environmental career opportunities. This program is for high school students
and adults, and is free.
