Walking Tour - Civil War
September 9, Saturday 11:00 am
Join County Historian Richard Quest, to visit the sites in Owego related to the American Civil War. Donning his reproduction costume and serenading participants before the tour, Quest will be sure to delight and inform all who attend this very popular tour.

Tickets are $2.50 each for members of the society, $5.00 for non-members. The tour will begin at the museum at 11:00 am. Call 687-2460 to reserve your space today as enrollment is limited.

Exhibit - At Home, At Field: Tioga County & the Civil War
Opens September 20
"At Home, At Field" will include accounts of battle from the average soldier, including contributions by brave African-Americans, women of valor, and young boys who left their farms, villages, and families in the 1860s. The exhibit will open on Wednesday, September 20, at 10:00 am, with a formal reception to be held at the society's annual meeting.

Annual Meeting
September 24, Sunday, 1 - 4 pm
The Board of Trustees and the staff of the historical society extend a warm invitation to all of its members to attend a special Annual Meeting / Membership Reception. New members and officers will be elected and you will have the opportunity to meet Dr. Kent Ahrens, the new Executive Director.

There will be desserts made from recipes used during the Civil War era. Music will be provided by harpist Meredith Kohn Bocek and her students Angel Zdimal and Janine O'Dea.

Celtic Style Quilt Raffle
The Valley Quilters of Newark Valley have created a beautiful quilt to be raffled for the benefit of programs at the historical society. The quilt's off white background is accentuated with dark blue Celtic knotwork applique. The quilt measures 82" x 100". Raffle tickets for the quilt are $3 each, or 4 for $10. Tickets will be on sale during the month of September. The drawing will be held at the society's annual meeting on September 24.
