Proud to Serve

Have you ever stood on the sidelines at a parade? A fife and drum corps marches by playing one of our country's great songs. You recognize the tune. Your eyes mist. You feel the swell of pride in your chest. And you just feel good. But do you know why?

If you do it's probably because fife and drum corps have been keeping our musical heritage alive.

In 1936, the Union-Endicott Colonial Fife and Drum Corps began preserving and passing on our countries musical heritage. The Corps, under the direction of Acton Ostling and in affiliation with Union-Endicott High School, entertained, inspired, and educated area residents until 1952 when the original Corps disbanded.

In 1954, some of the original members reunited as The Continental Ancient Fife and Drum Corps of Endicott, N.Y. The Corps now performs in parades and ceremonies locally as well as in neighboring states and Canada.

Now that you know a little about us, we'd like to know a little about you. Can you imagine how it feels to march down the street wearing the uniform of those brave colonial militia men? To play the music that inspired men, women and children to fight for their country? To inspire the emotion that you see on the faces in the crowd?

Don't just imagine it! Join us! Uniforms, instruments and musical instruction are provided by the Corps. Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. For information call 748-9633.
