At the Apalachin Elementary School

by Don Davis

It's Back to School at AES. The teachers are ready, the students are ready, our principal, Mr. Motsko, is ready, Mrs. Tulsey, Mrs. Gee, and Mrs. Orzel are ready. And the most important thing is that our school is ready thanks to our head custodian, Wayne Card, and his staff, Don Darrah, Les Rude, and Aron Race. They have worked hard all summer making our school clean, bright, and shiny for the new school year.

I know all our bus drivers are ready to pick up our students for that great first day of school. Believe me, parents, they will get your child there and back all in the same day.

I myself will be looking forward to working with the AES staff again this year, helping with the parents group, and many events such as Meet the Teachers night, Open House, Family Dance Night, BC Icemen Hockey Night, and Bottle & Can Drive. This past spring, we had a record attendance of 184 from AES at the BC Icemen Hockey Night. Not bad for a small school.

The parents group is open to all parents and if you want to get involved, don't be afraid to ask. Watch for my October article about our first day at school at AES.

See you then.
