Walking Tour - Early Peoples

August 12, 11:00 am

Learn about the region's first peoples. Iroquois, and pre-Iroquoian peoples had settle here for thousands of years before the "first settlers" that are often talked about. Walk along the road which covers ancient Indian trails, talk about the events of 1779 which changed their lives forever, and visit the sites where the first European settlers built their log cabins. This walk will be lead by Tioga County Historical Society director of programming, Pamela Goddard. The tour takes place throughout the Owego Historic District, and will last approximately an hour and a half.
