Relay for Life, July 14-15

This year's Relay for Life will be held from 6:00 pm Friday, July 14 through 2:00 pm Saturday, July15, at Owego Free Academy.

Relay for Life is held to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Participants camp out at the relay site and, as members of a team, take turns walking or running during the event. Each team keeps at least one of its members on the track at all times. When participants are not running or walking, they take part in fun activities and enjoy entertainment.

A highlight of the Relay for Life is the luminary ceremony which honors a cancer survivor or remembers a loved one lost to cancer. The luminary candles will be lit on Friday, July 14, at 10:00 pm.

If you want to buy a luminary candle (each one costs $5), or want more information about forming a team or walking in the survivors' lap, contact the American Cancer Society at 722-6471.
