Music at Awakenings

On Saturday, July 8, Awakenings Coffeehouse brings you Curt Osgood and Friends, acoustic presentations on hammered dulcimer, banjo, guitar, and voice. Selections will include Celtic and tunes of the North. Doors open at 6:30, music plays at 7:30 and 8:30 pm. There will be open seating. Donations are accepted.

On Sunday, July 9, Nine String Banjos with John Klehr and Robert Siegers will take you back to the heyday of the banjo with classic songs., complex instrumentals, and plenty of laughs on the four and five string banjo. Show starts at 1:00 pm at Awakenings.

Awakenings Coffeehouse is at 208 Front Street in Owego.

Book Sale at Coburn Library

The Friends of the Coburn Free Library are sponsoring their second Summer Book Sale. A new and sizeable assortment of pre-owned fiction and non-fiction has been collected. Readers of all ages are encouraged to stock up for their summer reading. The Friends are currently accepting quality book donations which may be dropped off at the library desk. Dates and hours of the two-day sale are: Friday, July 7, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; and Saturday, July 8, 1:00 to 5:00 pm. This event will be held at the Coburn Free Library, 275 Main Street in Owego.

Red Cross Needs Volunteers

American Red Cross Blood Services is looking for new volunteers to help with local Blood Drives. Volunteers can spend a few hours a month working at the registration table or refreshment station, meeting new people, and helping the Red Cross collect and distribute the gift of life in our area.
