This year, the Lane family of Apalachin presented two scholarships in memory of Jaime Lane. The recipient of the $1,000 award for proficiency in drumming was Patrick Monforte. Patrick is the son of Mr. And Mrs. Anthony Monforte of Binghamton. He graduated from Binghamton Central High School and will attending Broome Community College.

A second award of $300 was given this year to a Tioga Terrace student in conjunction with the Tioga Terrace Civic Association who selected a student showing promise from residents of Tioga Terrace. This award was given to Salvatore Peretore, son of Mr. And Mrs. Salvatore Peretore of Elmwood Drive. Sal is a graduate of Vestal High School and will be attending Lemoyne College.

Each year the Lane family sponsors a golf tournament to raise funds for the memorial scholarship. This year, the tournament will be held at Tall Pines on Saturday, September 2. Jamie's father, Joe Lane, passed away September 1, 1999. He was zhe mover and shaker of this event and will be missed this year by all. But, all the more reason to keep up the support.
