TOWN AND COUNTY GOVERNMENT WATCH

Town of Owego

• This year's fireworks are scheduled for Wednesday, July 5, at Hickories Park.

• Plans for the ExpressMart /McDonalds is going before the Zoning Board for final approval on April 6.

• The town started the process for choosing homes for the HUD Housing rehab grant. Call Tioga Opportunities, 687-0707 for more information.

• We are researching incorporating swimming one day a week at the community pool with our summer recreation program.

Village of Owego

• The village received $232,000 federal grant to help with restoration efforts of Marvin Park Pool.

• The village board removed the proposal to eliminate the village police.

• Election results showed Ed Arrington, John Bouton and Gene Tiberi as the winners.

Tioga County

• If you haven't returned your census form, please do so. A federal judge has determined that nothing can be levied against anyone who does not fill out all the questions. It is most important you fill out your name and number of people living in your home.

• The cost of civil service exams is increasing from $7.50 to $10 to help cover rising costs of processing.
