Census 2000 Road Tour Visits Owego
On Thursday, March 30, the U.S. Census Bureau's Road Tour Vehicle (pictured below) visited the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce from 3:00 to 4:00 pm where local officials and residents welcomed the Road Tour Team (pictured below). The Road Tour's purpose is to educate everyone living in the United States about the benefits of Census 2000 and to motivate them to participate in the census. The Road Tour Vehicle contains exhibits, videos, census-related printed materials, and promotional items.
The U.S. Census Bureau began the two-month Census 2000 Road Tour of the continental United States on February 15. The tour is a grassroots outreach program aimed at large cities, towns, tribal and rural areas throughout the country. It will stop in more than 400 cities during its tour.
