Book Sale at Coburn Library
The Friends of the Coburn Free Library are celebrating the advent of Spring with their Used Book Sale. The dates for this sale are Friday, March 10, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; and Saturday, March 11, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. The sale will be at the Coburn Free Library, 275 Main Street in Owego.
Rummage & Bake Sale March 18 in Little Meadows
There will be a Rummage Sale and a Bake Sale at the Little Meadows Methodist Church on Saturday, March 18, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. A Bag Sale will occur from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Lunch (chili, hot dogs, sandwiches) will be available.
Joe Reynolds on Dean's List
Joe Reynolds, son of Darryl and Francine Reynolds of 186 Ballou Road in Owego, has made the Dean's List for the fall semester at Ithaca College with a 3.7 grade point average (GPA). Joe is a junior at Ithaca College and is majoring in Health and PE. He is a member of the Bombers baseball team playing second base.
Zion Lutheran Gets AT&T Points
With your help, Zion Lutheran School recently received 88,002 points from the AT&T Points for Schools Program. This program provides registered K-12 schools with the opportunity to redeem points for free computer hardware and software products.
The program is free and automatic. AT&T residential long distance customers enrolled in AT&T Points for Schools automatically direct five points to our school for every dollar they spend on qualifying AT&T services. Qualifying services include AT&T Residential Long Distance, AT&T Calling Card calls, and AT&T Local Toll calls.
The school then redeems its points for free computer software and hardware.
To enroll, call 1-800-232-8200 and provide the representative with the school's name, Zion Lutheran, and the school's account number, 02048346.

Craft Show in Newark Valley
A Craft Show featuring professional craft vendors will be held on Saturday, March 25, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm at the 1st United Methodist Church of Newark Valley located at 61 S. Main Street (Route 38) in Newark Valley. Admission is free. For more information, call 687-4742 or 659-3134.
Jazz Tunes at Awakenings
The Donna Wood Jazz Trio will be playing standard Jazz tunes at Awakenings Coffeehouse in Owego on Saturday, March 11. The trio features Donna Wood, vocals, flute and sax; Steve Brown on guitar; and Steve Gilmore on Bass. Doors open at 6:30 pm, music plays at 7:30 and 8:30. There will be open seating, with donations. Awakenings is at 208 Front Street in Owego.
Irish Music at Awakenings
Close out St. Patrick's Day weekend and welcome the coming of spring with brisk and breezy Irish dance music at Awakenings Coffeehouse in Owego on Sunday, March 19. Curt Osgood, on hammered dulcimer; Char Thomson, on keyboard and autoharp; and R. J. Siegers, on banjo and guitar will perform at 1:00 pm.

Schendel Receives Awards
Brian P. Schendel of Tioga Center, district representative with Aid Association for Lutherans, recently received two sales and customer service awards for 1999 - a 1999 Customer Service Persistency award and a 1999 Mutual Fund Sales Leader award. Mr. Schendel serves A.A.L. members in the Ithaca, Elmira, and Binghamton area of New York as well as the Athens, Sayre, and Towanda areas of Pennsylvania.
New Hours for Stray Haven
Stray Haven will be changing their business hours as of Monday, March 13. Monday through Friday, the office hours will be from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm and kennels will be open to the public from Noon until 6:15 pm. Saturday hours are 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Stray Haven is closed Sundays and holidays.
Chicken BBQ March 26 in Owego
There will be a Chicken Bar-B-Que on Sunday, March 26, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Owego. The Bar-B-Que will start at 11:00 am and last until all the chicken is gone. A complete dinner will cost $5.50 and will include 1/2 chicken, baked potato, beans, and roll. The price of just 1/2 chicken with roll will be $3.50. St. Paul's is at 117 Main Street in Owego.
