Nichols, NY. August 23, 1999--

Family, friends, and former co-workers gathered on Wednesday, August 8, at Community Bank, N.A.'s Nichols Branch for the unveiling of a plaque dedicated in honor of Hugh G. Zimmer. Mr. Zimmer, the retired president and CEO of the former Nichols National Bank, passed away on February 28, 1999.

Mr. Zimmer was a member of the Community Bank System, Inc. (CBSI) and Community Bank, N.A. Board of Directors. He retired effective as of December 31, 1997. He was appointed to a directorship of CBSI in May 1989. His career began at Nichols National Bank in April 1957, where he served as President for 12 years.

Samuel F. Thomas, Branch Manager of Community Bank, N.A.'s Nichols Branch, stated, "This is a wonderful tribute, but also a very sad moment in our bank's history. All that knew and worked with Hugh will miss him. He did so much for our community."
