Volunteer Training

March 9, 16, 23, Tuesdays, 9am-Noon

All current volunteers are encouraged to attend these sessions, and all new volunteers are especially invited to attend and learn about the variety of school programming the center offers.

Little People, Big People

March 4, 11, 18, 25, Thursdays,

10:30-11:30 am

This program is open to all three- and four-year-olds and their adult chaperones: parent, grandparent, aunt, or uncle. Each week, Naturalist Eileen Shatara will explore a new nature theme through a variety of activities: hikes, games, stories, show and tell, and arts and crafts. Class size is limited, pre-registration is required. $12 members, $16 non-members for the month.

Winter Tree Identification for Kids

March 13, Saturday, 10am-Noon

Participants will take a close look at trees through sensory games, a scavenger hunt, and art activities. Dress for the weather and be ready to try a little pine needle tea. Open to 3rd and 5th grade students. $3 for members, $5 for non-members.

Spring Fling

March 20, Saturday, Noon-3pm

Celebrate the end of winter. A special hike will focus on signs of spring, while in the crafts room you can create springtime projects. Refreshments will also be available. The day ends with a traditional snowman burning at 2:30. $2 for members, $4 for non-members.

Adventure Wear Fashion Show

March 21, Sunday, 4pm

Owego Elks Lodge

A fun afternoon of outdoor fashions for the entire family and some great desserts. Everything from bird books to binoculars will be featured. If you enjoy hiking, camping, cycling, nature walks, or any other outdoor activity, or if you just want to look like you do all these things, this is the place for you! Seating is limited. Registration is required. Proceeds from this event will go to support the center's conservation education programming.

Backyard Habitat Design

March 25, April 1 & 8, Thursdays,

7-9pm

This class will help you develop a landscape plan for your home that attracts wildlife and reduces the time you spend on maintenance. Participants must bring a rough drawing of their property to the first class. $15 for members, $20 for non-members.

Trip to New Mexico

April 18-25

If you are planning to join the center's trip to Albuquerque, your final payment is due on Tuesday, March 30. Total trip cost is $2,500 for members and $2,750 for non-members.
