Andrew G. Fagan recently became the new Executive Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension, Tioga County (CCE,TC). Fagan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Tioga County.

Fagan grew up on a family farm in Perth, New York, where he enjoyed learning about this form of agriculture first hand. After secondary school, he spent time as a High School Agriculture Teacher in Homer, New York, and then accepted a position at Cornell University as Associate Director for the Cornell Educational Resources Program in 1991. This position included developing, writing, editing, and reviewing instructional and curricular materials for teaching agriculture at elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels.

Four years later, he accepted additional responsibility as Program Coordinator for the state-wide New York Agriculture in the Classroom program. Fagan's leadership included coordinating and implementing state-wide activities such as training for teachers, extension educators, and volunteers; publicizing the program through many media angles; securing funds to insure the future of the program, and teaching graduate courses for teachers during the summer.

In his new job, Fagan said that he most looks forward to "getting to know the people of Tioga County and planning and implementing quality programs to address their needs."

Fagan has a Bachelor of Science with Distinction and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Cornell University. He and his wife, Leslie, live in Waverly with their three children, Rachel, David, and Erin.

The Cornell Cooperative Extension educational system enables people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to work.
