Dinga Hails Passage of Dairy Compact Legislation

Assemblyman Jay J. Dinga announced that he is extremely pleased with the passage of the Dairy Compact legislation. "New York's farmers and the State Farm Bureau have advocated diligently for this legislation and I know they are relieved that assistance will now be provided to address the pricing of milk," said Dinga.

The provisions of this bill provide a prudent check and balance system by requiring that action receive the approval of the entire New York delegation as well as limiting a price increase to no higher than what has been set to date," continued Dinga.

"New York has lost thousands of farmers over the last several years and it has become essential that the State provide tools which will enable farmers to survive in today's economy. Initiatives such as the dairy compact, agricultural property tax incentives and agribusiness partnerships which have been approved by the State Legislature will go a long way toward preserving New York's agricultural base.

This is clearly the best holiday gift that our State's farmers could receive," concluded Dinga.
