Business & Professional Women's Club News

The New York State Business and Professional Women's Club recently held their fall boards at the Holiday Inn Arena in Binghamton. Business and professional women from all over New York State gathered for three days to discuss various women's issues in the workplace, progress being made to enhance the work area and offer a variety of hands on workshops. The Owego Business and Professional Womens Club had the following women attend: Lynda Johnson, Bunny Begeal, Julia Sexton, Karen Kretsch, Arline Coffelt, Kim Ward, and Mary Ellen Baburchak.

In conjunction with the business and professional women's fall boards the youth leadership conference was held. Melissa Andersson, an OFA business student was selected to attend. This three-day event was filled with activities and workshops that included such topics as interviewing skills, dressing for success, and self-defense, and explored such career choices as law, engineering, and finance. The students also participated in several of the business meetings and met with a wide variety of women in all professions as well as a diverse group of other young women from all over New York State.

The youth leadership conference is an annual event and Owego Business and Professional Women's Club is proud to send outstanding high school students each year so they can benefit from this remarkable opportunity. If you know of someone who would enjoy participating next fall, contact a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club or your high school guidance counselor.
