Bottle drive

Through September 30

Has the end of summer left you with a pile of returnable cans and bottles? Please consider donating them to the Apalachin Library Bottle Drive going on now through September 30. Returnable cans and bottles can be left in the boxes set up on the library porch. Donations will help fund library programs and the purchase of new children's books.

Pre-School Storytime

The weekly pre-school story and activity time will begin Thursday, September 17,, at 10:30 am. This adult-child program offers a blend of stories and related activities along with less structured time for children (and adults) to play quietly, socialize, and choose books. The relaxed atmosphere gives children the opportunity to feel comfortable with the library and develop a positive attitude towards books and reading. Many parents find this an excellent setting for younger pre-schoolers who are just learning to socialize or that may like to keep a familiar grown-up close by. Story leaders alternate each week between library staff and parent volunteers. Adults and their children are encouraged to be the leaders at some point and share their favorite story and/or activity. Call 625-3333 or just stop by Thursday morning. Registration is not necessary.

Thank You

from the Friends of the Apalachin Library

Thank you to the community of Apalachin for your support at the Library Ice Cream Social and Book Sale. Approximately 400 people attended the annual event. Please forgive us for not mentioning the names of all the people who helped us hold the social, but know that we are very grateful to all the volunteers who set-up, served, or prepared food, collected money, or hauled and sorted books. A special thank you to Dan Fabricius, Andy Kearney, and the Owego-Apalachin Schools Summer Music Program. Your performance made the even truly festive. The Friends of the Apalachin Library would also like to extend a sincere thanks to the dozens of businesses that helped to fund the social. Please notice our list of business patrons the next time you are at the library and let these companies know that you appreciate their support of community programs.
