Jamie Lane Memorial Scholarship Awarded

The 1998 $1000 Jamie Lane Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to Matthew Lichstein, who will graduate with honors from Binghamton Central High School this month. Lichstein was selected because of his outstanding ability as a drummer and percussionist. He plans to make music his career and has been accepted at the Peabody Conservatory.

Each year for the last three years since Jamie died, the Lane family has awarded a scholarship to a deserving senior to whom drumming is important. Jamie was a professional drummer.

Applications for the scholarship go out to all local high schools. Money for the award is raised by the Lane family with a golf tournament at the Tall Pines Players Club held each year on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.
