Lockheed Martin Federal Systems in Owego announced last month that it will hire up to 400 new employees. Lockheed Martin will also fill 150 positions at its Westover (Johnson City) facility and 250 positions in Syracuse.

According to Lockheed Martin advertisements, the Owego facility has "immediate openings for both entry-level and experienced professionals... Opportunities range from the design of automated equipment, to UNIX and Pentium-based real-time control systems, Windows NT and C++ programming of mobile information systems, image processing, robotics/program/project management, manufacturing, business and administrative opportunities.... We have positions available immediately. They include, but are not limited to: Software Developers, Systems Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Software Architects, (and) Program Managers."

Starting salaries for recent college graduates will be in the $40,000 range.
