Raceworld '98
Comes to Apalachin
Raceworld 98, the Southern Tier's premier race car show, will be held in Apalachin this year at the Hidden Valley Electronics Complex on Main Street. The annual show will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, March 6, 7, and 8.

"Last year's show had one main drawback for area race fans, it lacked adequate parking," said promoter Al Wilcox. Moving the show to Apalachin and the Hidden Valley Electronics building solved the parking problems. The building is conveniently located off Route 17 and should draw fans from all over the Southern Tier.

Raceworld 98 will feature cars from all forms of motorsports. Asphalt as well as dirt track racers will have their cars on display. Drag racers, truck and tractor pullers, and vintage cars will all be represented at this year's event. Besides the large display of racing machines, vendors will be available with racing apparel, souvenirs, and collectibles. All area speedways will also have booths at the show with information about the upcoming racing season.

"The new building has plenty of room for everyone," commented Wilcox. "I look forward to filling the entire building.

Sunday, Bicknell Racing Products will conduct a chassis seminar for the modified drivers, crew chiefs, and owners of cars racing in the area. Pete Bicknell of BRP is known as one of the best chassis set-up men in the country. Trackside products of Vestal is sponsoring Bicknell's seminar at Raceworld.

A track for radio controlled racing will be part of Raceworld 98. Racing will take place Saturday and Sunday for the radio controlled racing enthusiasts.

The Spaulding Foundation for Injured Drivers will have their annual auction scheduled for Saturday night. Annually the race fans of the area contribute generously to this auction of racing memorabilia.

This year's edition of Raceworld is sponsored by Don's Automotive Mall and Pick-A-Part of Horseheads and in part by Haun Welding, Trackside Products, and Pepsi Cola.
