English Watercolor Lecture

A History of English Watercolor Landscape Painting lecture will be held on Wednesday, February 11, at 7:00 pm, in the Cornell Cooperative Extension conference room at 56 Main Street in Owego. The class will cover the history of English watercolor landscape painting beginning in 1750 and ending about 100 years later. It was in Great Britain that watercolor was developed brilliantly by great artists whose purpose was to make watercolor landscapes as important as those in oils. Some of the artists included are Paul Sandby, the Cozens, William Blake, John Constable, Thomas Girtin, and JMW Turner, as well as several others. Class will be illustrated with slides of relevant paintings. For reservations, call the Tioga County Council on the Arts (TCCA) at (607) 687-0785.

John McEuen to Perform in Free Concert
John McEuen - best known as a member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - a master of the banjo, mandolin, and guitar, is the featured performer for the Tioga County Council on the Arts' final free performance of the Master Series Concerts on Saturday, February 7, at 8:00 pm at the Owego-Apalachin Middle School Auditorium.
