The Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of George Thearle as principal of the Owego Elementary School. Thearle started as principal this month, taking over after the retirement of Patricia "Penny" Zandy who retired in November 1997.

Thearle taught art education for 22 years in the Owego-Apalachin School District. He holds a B.A. in Art Education from Buffalo State and an M.S. in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz.
