Woodwright's Guild Forming

February 14, Saturday, 1:30pm

Newark Valley High School Library

In anticipation of the reassembly of the Herrick Threshing Barn, the Newark Valley Historical Society is forming an exciting new guild which will be dedicated to woodworking and to timber and wood framing.

The first meeting is on Saturday, February 14, at 1:30 pm, in the library of the Newark Valley High School which is at the southeast corner of Route 38 and Wilson Creek Road, one mile north of the traffic light in Newark Valley. The purpose of the meeting is to introduce possibilities, share ideas, and assess the needs of the participants.

All types of woodworking projects, large or small, and all methods of craftsmanship are of interest. Learn new skills and preserve the old. Pool your resources, meet people, and hand hew a beam. Help the guild get off to a good start by joining in.

If blacksmithing or spinning/weaving are more to your taste, the Newark Valley Historical Society sponsors guilds dedicated to these crafts as well. For more information, call Kim Mayhew at 642-8487.
