TCCA Awards $14,250 in Grants

The Tioga County Council on the Arts (TCCA) awarded grants to 17 Tioga County organizations under its Decentralization Program funded by the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency. The grants were awarded to the following:

1st Baptist Church of Owego, $1,000

Berkshire Library, $550

Cady Library, $500

Candor Library, $500

Friends of the Apalachin Library, $500

Newark Valley Chamber of Commerce, $1,100

Newark Valley Historical Society, $800

Newark Valley Historical Society, $700

Tioga County Boys & Girls Club, $1,000

Spencer Library, $550

Spencer-Van Etten Community Service, $1,150

Tii-Ahwaga Players, $1,200

Tioga County Boys & Girls Club, $700

Village of Newark Valley, $500

Waterman Conservation Center, $1,000

Waverly Recreation, $500

Village of Waverly, $2,000

A Decentralization Grant Panel of six Tioga County residents met on October 25, 1997, to determine the recipients and the grant amounts. This year, the Tioga County Council on the Arts received 20 requests totaling $39,630 and was able to fund 17 for a total amount of $14,250. These grants help to promote the arts in Tioga County as well as support local artists.
