Little People/Big People
September 4, 11, 18, 25, Thursdays
10:30am & 1:30pm
Three- and four-year-olds may bring their favorite big person for a series of special discovery programs. Sign up for the morning or afternoon program. $12 members, $16 non-members.
Walk Through Time
September 6, Saturday, 10am-4pm
An encore production of a look at local history. Tours leave from the Marshland Road site and travel back in time to Historic Hiawatha Island. Reservations are suggested. $7.50 members, $10 non-members.
Volunteer Naturalist Training
Sept 9, 16, 23, Tuesdays, 9am-Noon
A class for anyone interested in helping teach the many environmental education programs offered at the center. There is no charge. Volunteers are asked to commit to one year of leading tours. Call the center to register.
Golf Tournament at the Links
September 10, Wednesday, 1:30pm
Play the Links Golf Course during Waterman's Annual Golf Tournament (captain and crew). An awards dinner will follow at about 6:30pm. Golf and dinner is $75. Non-golfers may sign up for a tour of Hiawatha Island and dinner for $30. Call the center for reservations.
Brick Pond Trails Day
September 13, Saturday, 10am
Meet at Brick Pond parking lot to clean and mulch the trails around the wetland. Call for a list of needed equipment. Break for lunch at 1pm (bring along a place setting and drink). Call for reservations.

Paper & Bookmaking
Sept 22, 23, & 26; Mon, Tues, & Fri,
7-9pm
Learn the basics of pulp preparation and sheet forming using simple tools. A discussion of the history of papermaking and demonstrations of laminating, embedding, and casting will be included. Bookmaking will be introduced as a way to use the paper that is created, in a finished art format. $45 members, $50 non-members. A $10 materials fee will be assessed at the first class.
Big Island Pow Wow
Sept 26-28, Friday-Sunday
First Annual Big Island Pow Wow at Tioga Park in Nichols. The festival will feature the Otter Trail Singers and lots of dancers and craftspeople. The event will help raise funds for the center's Native American Heritage program. $4 adults, $2 children 6-14, free for children 5 and under.
