Relay For Life
A Team Event to Fight Cancer

For twenty-four hours in August, teams of individuals representing corporations, clubs, churches, neighborhoods, families, and cancer patients will participate in "Relay For Life," a fund raising event that focuses on the positive side of cancer...surviving.

"Relay For Life" will take place from 6:00 pm on Friday, August 8, to 6:00 pm on Saturday, August 9. Each team will have representation on the track at all times. While team members are not on the track or standing on the sidelines cheering, there will be plenty of other ways to spend the 24 hours. There will be live entertainment and bands, face painting, and a special kids area.

Highlights on Friday include the Cancer Survivor's Lap at 6:00 pm and a special candle-lighting ceremony at 10:15 pm to remember all the people who have experienced cancer.

Prizes will be awarded to the teams that exhibit the most creativity with their theme and tent decorating. Awards will be presented for Most Funds Raised.

Money raised in the Relay For Life will go to support cancer research and patient services and education in this community.

Major sponsors of the event are Lockheed Martin-Owego, Guthrie Medical, Hadco, WBNG-TV 12, and WHWK 98.1
