Owego Strawberry Festival
Set for June 21

The 17th Annual Strawberry Festival will be held in the Village of Owego on Saturday, June 21, 1997, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The theme of this year's festival is "Jammin' in Owego."

The following changes to previous festivals will be made due to traffic and emergency vehicle access considerations created by the recent vehicle weight limitations on the Court Street Bridge by the New York State Department of Transportation. There will be no parade, instead live stationary entertainment will be provided inside the festival area. The festival area will be located on Main Street, from North Avenue to Paige Street and also on Church Street and Lake Street. All other streets will be open to normal traffic. This should facilitate the traffic flow and reduce traffic access restrictions on local residents outside of the festival area.

Parking will be at the Hickories Park of Route 17C to the east of the village, Marvin Park (the Tioga County Fairgrounds) on West Main Street on the west side of the village, and at the Owego Free Academy off George Street to the north of the village. Shuttle buses will transport people from those locations to the festival area and back to the parking areas.
