Henning Transferred to Ft. Drum

S/Sgt. Michael C. Henning, an Owego native, was recently transferred from Ft. Stewart, Georgia, to Fort Drum, New York. While at Fort Drum, Henning is assigned to the Warriors in Transition Battalion (WIT). WIT is a special battalion at each major Army base for soldiers to recover and rehabilitate from injuries received in the war.  Sgt. Henning had served three tours of duty in Iraq and was twice injured in combat. He was recently awarded his second Purple Heart for the injuries he received as the result of a road side bomb explosion. He is hopeful of returning to his normal duties as an MP shortly. He and his wife Teresa recently spent a few days in the Owego area visiting family and friends while in the process of moving to Fort Drum. They plan to return and reside in Owego when he completes his tour of duty.
