Depot Friday
Night in NV
Beginning June 12 and continuing for 14 Fridays through September 11, the Newark Valley Historical Society will host the 2009 edition of the Depot Friday Night Series. This year's programs feature an exciting mix of music, authors, lectures and even a star gazing party. Admission is free and refreshments are available. The Depot's opening night program on June 12 will feature Reprise 60's; the fabulous sounds that defined a generation of music. Gary Ingraham, Phil Guidici, Bob Greaves, Mike Samsonic and Kevin Ferris play and sing the songs of the 60's. Free popcorn is available on opening night. June 19 will feature the Stoutmen; Tim Lynch, Sean Walsh, Roy Bartram and Bob White make up an Irish folk quartet that play and sing a great mix of powerful rebel songs, jovial drinking song, toe tapping reels and beautiful Irish ballads. On June 26 Robert White, author of "Yours Truly" (a biography of the life and times of Judge Charles Pumpelly Avery {1817-1872}, the first elected judge of Tioga County): and "Susquehanna Scandal" will be the guest speaker. The Depot is located on Depot Street in Newark Valley. Depot Friday Nights are made possible, in part with public funds from the NYS Council on the Arts' Decentralization Program administered locally by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes. Call the Historical Society at 642-9516 for a complete schedule.
