School to Celebrate Historic Anniversary on May 16
Alumni, Former Staff invited to Attend St. Patrick School Owego will open its doors to all alumni, parishioners, former teachers and staff and their families on Saturday, May 16, as it celebrates the 150th anniversary of the school's opening. The community is invited to attend the celebration of the Mass at 5:30 pm at St. Patrick Church, 300 Main St., Owego. A complimentary BBQ following Mass will be provided to alumni students and staff, and present students, staff and their families. Everyone is invited to tour the school, and each classroom will be dedicated to a decade in recent school history providing an opportunity to reconnect with former classmates. Any alumni or community member interested in attending is asked to please RSVP by contacting the school at 687-1770. The May 16 event is the capstone of a full year of celebrations.
The annual Fall Festival in September showcased an alumni booth to help
former students reconnect with classmates. In January, Bishop Matthew Clark
joined St. Patrick students and faculty in honoring the 140th anniversary
of the arrival of the Sisters of Mercy to Owego. Bishop Clark celebrated
the Mass and following the celebration, he and the Sisters toured the school
and viewed a visual history that had been compiled for the 150th celebration
of the school's opening.
