Campbell Attains
Eagle Scout Rank
Jimmy Campbell of BSA Troop 38 in Owego, received his Eagle rank in an Eagle Court of Honor Ceremony on March 1, 2009. On the path to the Eagle rank, Jimmy earned 32 merit badges. Jimmy's Eagle project was to clear access and to build a boardwalk into the Apalachin Marsh for the Fred L. Waterman Conservation Education Center of Apalachin. Materials for the project were donated by Owego Home Central. The Owego Elks Club and the Apalachin Firemen Field Days Committee provided monetary support. It took more than 110 hours of volunteer effort to complete this project. Speakers during the ceremony included Troop 38 Scoutmaster Dr. Terry Hills, Assistant Scoutmaster Scott MacDonald and Eagle Scout Michael Innes. Troop 38 has been chartered with the First Presbyterian Union Church of Owego for 74 years. A senior at Owego Free Academy, Jimmy plans to attend Hilbert College and major in Forensic Science. Jimmy is the son of Dale and Carolyn Campbell of Owego.
