The Arden Kelsey American Legion Family in Candor will host the 2nd Annual Veteran's Walk-A-Thon on April 25, 2009.  

 Members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 907, Kelly Starkweather and Patti Reichert, have agreed to chair this event again in hopes of another successful year.  

 The proceeds collected from Tioga County were number one in the state for this fund raiser in 2008 and were sent in to the Sons of the American Legion Detachment where they were distributed to New York State's 14 veterans medical centers, five veterans homes, and the Fisher House in Albany, all which care for our veterans. 

 In addition to the walk, Candor Squadron SAL member, Scott Henry and wife, Donna, will be in charge of the 60-mile motorcycle ride-a-thon that helped to earn over $2000 last year. 

 Pat Halstead has also eagerly agreed to head up the 1st chicken BBQ of the season immediately following the activities.  Due to last year's overwhelming demand, pre-sale tickets will be available for walkers, riders & the public.    

 The Veteran's Walk-a-Thon will begin at 10:00 am on April 25.  Organizers are hopeful to again hold this event at the Candor High School track with music and entertainment.  Following a flag raising ceremony, the first lap will be for veterans & families with military personnel currently serving, followed by all registered walkers.  The motorcycle ride will start at 12:00 Noon, with registration at 9:00 am.
