Fire Wire
Rosemary Kotski
It was with a saddened heart that Campville Fire Department said
goodbye to our Squad Chief, Rosemary Kotski last month. Our prayers and
thoughts go out to her family. She was devoted to the fire department for
many years as a firefighter and an Emergency Medical Technician Basic.
You could always count on Rosemary and her husband Ed to be there on our
squad calls. A friend, a sister and a wonderful person, she will be missed
by all.
Training
Campville Firefighters; Mark Daniel, Dianna Ford, John Hickey,
Carl Laposky, Josh Manning, William Mead, Marten Peterson and Brad Schuyler
have completed the Aircraft Firefighter Rescue classes. Thirty firefighters
from Tioga County departments and Lockheed Martin joined together for this
training. The last class was held at the Binghamton Airport where firefighters
got a first hand look at the equipment available in case of an emergency
aircraft landing.
Campville Squad members; Mark Daniel, Carl Laposky, Al Peterson,
Marten Peterson, and Nancy Peterson completed the GEMS class offered at
the Tioga County Public Safety Building. The class was informative
for treating the geriatric population.
Campville is fortunate to have so many members who not only volunteer
their time to the community but also attend evening classes and Saturday
classes to keep their skills updated to better serve the community.
January has been a good month to update OSHA training and member
physicals. Lourdes Mission In Motion van comes to the station and is available
for OSHA physicals for our members.
Thank You to NYSEG
NYSEG came to our department on a cold drill night and offered
some important information to the members in regards to answer "wires down"
calls and fire calls where power needs to be shut off. Thank you Dave Pittarelli
and Mike Hurst for an informative and interesting training. In emergency
situations it's important that we all work together with safety utmost
in all our actions. Drivers from Wagner lumber also attended this training,
(thanks for the wings guys!).
Sick Call
Kevin Ford has been ill at home for the past few weeks. We ask
for your thoughts and prayers for Kevin and wish him a speedy recovery.
Marten Peterson
A young man joined our department before his 18th birthday as
an apprentice. His accomplishments during the past two years are an asset
to the young people. Last year he completed the Emergency Medical Technician
Basic course and the Firefighter I boot camp. He is presently attending
SUNY Cobleskill and is active with the SUNY Cobleskill SMRT and the Cobleskill
Fire Department and Squad. While he was home on break he attended the GEMS
class and the Aircraft Firefighter Rescue class. Campville thanks you,
Marten Peterson, for your dedication to the fire service. Marten is a second
generation in the department, both his Dad and Mom are firefighters and
EMTs.
