How will gas exploration in the Southern Tier impact you and your family?

 The Tioga County Landowners Group will present a two-part program on possible impacts on Monday, January 12 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Tioga Central High School auditorium in Tioga Center.

 Regional Extension Forester Brett Chedzoy will discuss "Surface Impact Consideration for Forest and Farmlands". Chedzoy is a Regional Extension Forester in Natural Resources for the South Central NY Ag Team (Chemung, Tioga, Tompkins, Schuyler and Cortland Counties).  He is also a livestock farmer on 200-acre family farm in Watkins Glen, where he is on his second gas lease and in 1995 had a large NYSEG pipeline built on his farm.

 Consultant Jeffrey Jacquet will focus on the "Economic and Social impacts from Natural Gas Development". Jacquet has spent the last four years as a consultant to local governments on the impacts of natural gas development in Wyoming. He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Sociology. Jacquet, who recently moved to Ithaca, is currently consulting for Cornell University and Penn State University. He will also be teaching Sociology Classes this spring.

 The Tioga Central High School is at 27 5th Avenue in Tioga Center, just off Route 17C.
