Lions Club Needs
Toys
The Apalachin Lions Club is busy preparing for delivery of food, gift certificates, and toys to 60 or more families in the Apalachin and Little Meadows area. The program, which has been going on for 47 years, is supported by community groups such as the Apalachin and Vestal Elementary Schools, Boy and Girl Scouts, church organizations, the Apalachin Library and the Post Office in Apalachin. Each year, the Lions' goal is to collect enough toys so that each of the approximately 100 to 130 children on the basket list will receive a nice gift. In order to meet this goal, the Lions have placed toy collection barrels at the following locations: Apalachin Pharmacy Rt. 434, Apalachin, Apalachin Library Main Street, Apalachin, Apalachin Elementary School, Penn. Ave., Apalachin; and Tioga Hills Elementary School, Glann Road, Apalachin, The barrels will be in place through December 11 for collection of new or like new gifts for children up to 16- years-old. Please, no clothing items. If you have toys to donate but cannot get to a collection site, call Lion Vince Hawley at (607) 625-2365 to arrange for pick up.
