Best "Black
Friday" in 35 Years
The Goat Boy on Front Street in Owego had its best "Black Friday" (the day after Thanksgiving) business in the store's 35-year history. The Goat Boy even opened an hour and fifteen minutes early on "Black Friday" November 28, 2008, due to the line of people waiting to get inside and shop. In this time of the harsh economics, the Goat Boy staff noticed that shoppers were more careful in their gift purchases - the shoppers chose fewer items (and not necessarily from among those on sale), but bought what they perceived as the perfect gift. The Goat Boy staff were very pleased with the number of shoppers at their store, and they thought it was great to see so many people in downtown Owego.
