Enjoy a Self -Guided Tour on Santa's Sleigh Ride!
By Norma Eckrote Okay, you're probably thinking, "a sleigh ride with some horses wearing poorly placed antlers from last years buck pulling a big bobsled full of people, freezing temperatures, waiting in line….". Well, this is a different deal altogether. This sleigh ride is self guided, you stay nice and warm in your car, you do it at your leisure and you get to see and visit some of the best that Bradford County has to offer. The idea began as a way for small, local businesses to get some attention and has grown to an annual event that has lasted over 15 years and gets bigger each year. Businesses, vendors, artisans and hand-crafters welcome you to visit their shops, and sometimes homes, to peruse and purchase their wares. The common denominator is that all the vendors are offering items that have been hand-made. You can pick up a map of the tour at any of the participating businesses on the sleigh ride. Following the map, you will visit 16 separate shops that encompass 21 vendors and you will find some of the most unique and beautiful gifts and holiday treasures you can imagine. As a bonus, you get to travel through the Endless Mountains Region of Pennsylvania which is known for its magnificent vistas. Door prizes are offered at each stop and the hospitality will bring you back again and again throughout the year. Don't miss this shopping experience! You will find goodies from maple candy to Amish made cheese. You'll find craftsmanship from wooden toys to outdoor furniture. You'll find artistry from paintings to intricately detailed earrings. And you'll find sundries from wreaths to dried flowers. Doll furniture, ceramics, wine, hand-knitted and sewn décor, organic foods, rocking horses, ornaments, glassware, jams and jellies. Don't worry about getting hungry! During this event the Parish House of the Dille Parish United Church of Christ in LeRaysville will be serving a fabulous homemade lunch. This is a great opportunity to support local businesses and give a gift or bring home a needful thing that was crafted right here in the U.S. by people you can meet and speak with face to face. The sleigh ride takes place November 28, 29, and 30, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Lunch is served at the Parish House from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Friday and Saturday only. Hope to see you on the ride!
