Village of Owego Gets Facelift
She's a grand ole gal, but everyone needs a little lift now and again!  The Village of Owego is getting just that with the help of the Tioga County Local Development Corporation (TCLDC).

The TCLDC is the recipient of façade improvement funds by way of the Housing Trust Fund New York Main Street program and as a result many village businesses have benefitted.

The Goat Boy owner Lisa Curatolo said, "We are so very pleased to have been included in the TCLDC façade program. The TCLDC façade program helped us to turn an eyesore into one nice looking facade.  Thank you to the TCLDC and especially to LeeAnn Tinney who has helped make everything go so smoothly for us."

Take a drive down North Avenue, where the program originated, and check out the Shear Paradise paint job and awning. Further down North Avenue, you will surely notice the buildings which house Allstate Insurance, the Tioga County Chamber of Commerce office and the Tioga County Tourism office. Maximum Mobility on the corner of Fox Street got in on the act with a new door and windows.

The TCLDC expanded the original program to include the entire Historic District.  How exciting it is to see fresh, bright paint and new awnings on Maureen's Tender Loving Care and on The Hand of Man.  What look like new windows at 32-34 Lake Street are actually long covered windows brought back to life. Paint and windows have made a great impact on The Goat Boy (pictured above), The Rose Petal, and 36-40 Lake Street. And talk about impact, how about The Giddy Bird. The Jailhouse received a little fresh paint as well, but to see what's happening at The Cellar you have to check out the back porch. New windows across the back give Owego diners a beautiful view of the river again.

The TCLDC grant program has helped turn $100,000 of state grant funds
coupled with over $115,000 in matched private investment into more than $215,000 in improvements to the Village of Owego.  Fourteen property owners participated.

Perhaps it is fitting that the final project to benefit from this program is the Parkview Restaurant.
